Standards and Tools for Quality Assurance

A sound quality assurance (QA) system for research is critical to UNICEF’s mandate and to enhance our reputation as a knowledge leader on children, ensure scarce resources are not wasted, and to protect the children, women and others who participate in our research, and whose lives are affected by its outcomes.

The Office of Research is collaborating with the Evaluation Office to develop a Programme Instruction on Quality Assurance for UNICEF Research and Evaluation to support the building of an organization-wide quality assurance system for research and evaluation. The Instruction outlines broad principles and minimum standards which individual offices and sections will need to build on to develop more detailed operational procedures for quality assurance for research and evaluation in their setting. Standards outlined in the Instruction are supported by research and evaluation tools, guidelines and training materials available on the Office of Research Teams Site.
