Thematic expert consultations in the lead up to the Brazil Congress

As a contribution to the World Congress III Against Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents organized by the Government of Brazil from 25-28 November 2008 in Rio de Janeiro, the UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre, in collaboration with partners, organized three thematic consultations.

The consultations brought together experts from around the globe – from governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as the private sector. During thematic presentations and discussions, participants pooled their experience and knowledge of the issues relevant to children and adolescents in their regions as well as across regions. They came up with concrete recommendation on how to protect children and adolescents at risk of sexual exploitation, and to empower those who have suffered this human rights violation.
