Cairo launch broadcasted in videoconference at the MOFA in Rome

 - Panelists at the launch of the Innocenti Digest against FGM/C  in Cairo on 24 November UNICEF IRC/2005


The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs broadcasted the international launch of the Innocenti Digest in Cairo in videoconference, during a round table that the MOFA Italian Cooperation organized in Rome to present the Italian version of the Innocenti Digest.
The round-table was opened by Minister Giuseppe Deodato, Director General of Italian Cooperation for Development, with the participation of Italian experts, academics and development officials.
UNICEF Kenya Representative, Heimo Laakkonen, together with Maria Gabriella De Vita, UNICEF Programme Division, David Parker, IRC Deputy Director, and Francesca Moneti, IRC Project Officer, attended the meeting and illustrated UNICEF commitment to end FGM/C.
The commitment of the Italian Cooperation to support projects against FGM/C was also reffirmed by Minister Deodato during his speech. Italian Cooperation is currently supporting a programme in Kenya to reduce FGM/C since 2003 and the multibilateral initiative The fight against violence towards girls: the female genital mutilations/ciuttings in Africa in the context of the UNICEF programme Global Child Protection Strategy since 2004.
