Third Intergovernmental Conference on Children in Europe and Central Asia

The Third Intergovernmental Conference on Children in Europe and Central Asia, organized in Palencia - Spain - from 19 to 20 June, has the main task of preparing countries for reporting back to the General Assembly in 2007 on progress on World Fit For Children (WFFC).

The Conference is the third meeting in the series of conferences organised under the auspices of WFFC in Europe and Central Asia and has the following objectives:
  • to review monitoring of WFFC in the ECA region with a special focus on implementation of the Convention of the Rights of the Child
  • to take stock of progress on key challenges in child rights in the region
  • to brief governments on the processes of reporting back to the General Assembly on goals agreed at the UN Special Session on Children
It will focus on examining progress of child rights in Europe and Central Asia and launching the process of review of WFFC at national level.
It has been organized by UNICEF in collaboration with Council of Europe, Spanish Government, UN agencies.
