Look out for ...

Post 2015: What next?

© UNICEF/MLWB2008-730/d'Elbee - In August 2008, a woman walks past health messages written on walls encouraging husbands to accompany their wives to the hospital at 8 months of pregnancy in Kudembo village in Dedza district. The initiative is part of a UNFPA supported project to prevent pregnancy related deaths in Malawi.

Malawi's maternal mortality ratio of 807 per 100,000 live births is one of the highest in Africa and the country is not expected to achieve the Millennium Development Goal on maternal mortality reduction without a rapid acceleration of obstetric services and a change in social and cultural norms that hinder gender equality.

There is no Look Out For this month. It will return in the next edition.
