Yaprak, 10, stands with her younger sister and brother and her mother on the porch of their home in the village of Karaali in Ankara Province. Yaprak attends a 'child-friendly' school, together with all the girls in the village. Today is the last day of school and she is wearing a red velvet dress to celebrate. Yaprak's father works for a local landowner in exchange for the house and a small stipend.
The Office of Research, in collaboration with University of Oxford, Department of Social Policy and Intervention is currently conducting a global study on family and parenting suppor policy and provision. Preliminary findings from this study will be shared and used as a framework for the 2-day discussion on these broadly defined topics:
- Drivers of policy and provision: social and structural factors
- The nature and continuum of services: from universal to targeting those most at risk; from ages 0-18
- Key actors: the role of state, communities, civil society, families, parents and children
- Gendered roles and responsibilities for parenting
This meeting will gather about 30 experts and professionals from different parts of the world.
