Nicholas Mathers

Social and Economic Policy Researcher

Nicholas joined the Social Policy and Economic Unit in 2021 where he works on the gender-responsive and age-sensitive social protection (GRASSP) programme and is researching child-sensitive shock-responsive social protection. Nicholas has a PhD in Social Policy from the London School of Economic (LSE) for which his thesis employed mixed-methods to understand the effects of a state cash transfer programme on adolescents’ life-course circumstances in Nepal. He specialises in social protection and childhood and adolescent poverty and vulnerability and has more than thirteen years of experience in research, policy, and programme management including with UNICEF, ODI and Save the Children in both development and humanitarian contexts.
