Global Economic Crisis and Children: Effects and policy options in West and Central Africa

The Research Brief presents a policy-oriented summary of the findings of research on the impact of the global financial crisis on children in West and Central Africa. Through selection of three countries – Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Ghana – it proposes an innovative tool that can facilitate an early understanding of the impact of macroeconomic shocks on child well-being. This knowledge can inform policies and influence the choices governments make to ensure the well-being of their youngest citizens. The Research Brief is intended for use by policymakers, academics, programme staff and the media
