Life-course analysis

New knowledge and understanding of the importance of the ‘life-course’ for prioritizing effective interventions at different stages of children’s lives needs to be systematized and made available for programme design across Country Offices. An evidence for action note will review latest evidence of how ‘intervening early’ and better management of the key ‘transitions’ faced by children (especially 0-3 years and adolescence) can influence critical outcomes. This work will reflect on opportunities to operationalize a life course analytic approach and how it can be used as a lens to achieve better outcomes through integrated programming. A working group will be convened in early 2013 to share evidence, discuss operational opportunities and challenges and reflect on the applicability of this approach to varying country contexts.
